Ten sentenced of digital abuse against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for engaging in the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced allegations of spreading false claims regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the pair's 24-year age gap.

The court issued suspended prison sentences of as much as eight months to the perpetrators. The full ruling has yet to be released.

A longstanding false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.

This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons pursuing a legal action for defamation in the United States against political commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted similar conspiracy theories about the first lady's gender.

Their legal filing states that Owens disregarded all credible evidence that refuted her assertions choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has regularly repeated these claims on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.

Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she was a teacher at his high school.

The couple entered into matrimony in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
